3D printing is a fairly new technology that is the process of making three dimensional objects by lying layers and layers of material on top of one and other. The basis for 3D printing dates back to the 80’s, though several technological advancements have made 3D printing readily available and somewhat affordable for people in the last few years.

What’s really interesting about 3D printing to me is that the capabilities are endless. 3D printers can be used to produce parts and pieces for just about anything, including more 3D printers. There is no doubt that 3D printing will impact the world in just about every aspect. From printing human organs to printing architectural models that would otherwise have to be handcrafted, 3D printing is taking over.

3D printing is hard to visualize in just an explanation, that’s why I have copied some interesting video clips below of 3D printing in action.

It’s for good reason though. The sound you hear from some Beats headphones compared to a regular old pair of standard ear buds is a tremendous difference. Below I have taken the time to do some headphone research myself and pick out some headphones with excellent sound quality. For all headphone purchases, check out – http://microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=headphones

Fanny Wang – 2000 Series Dj Wang Headphones with Remote

So I put on these headphones and turned on something with a lot of bass. TNGHT – Bugg’n starts popping my eardrums left and right. The bass in these headphones is equal to if not better than a lot of other headphones I’ve tried and I was really impressed by how easily they stick on your head. None of that flopping off my ears mumbo jumbo when I’m head bobbing. These headphones are light and emit high quality sound. By the way, as I write this, I’m still wearing these headphones because of how comfortable they are.

The chord on these headphones is close to 4” and is equipped with volume and song control. Just like the ear buds that come with your iPhone, these headphones have the capability of placing phone calls on your iOS device with the embedded microphone in the remote. Also on the chord is a splitter. No longer do you have to go find a splitter for your friends to listen along with you (even though these headphones are also packaged with one.) Now you can plug right into the headphone chord. The Wangs come with a sleek design and case for easy mobility when traveling and come with a quarter inch connector so that you can plug into your guitar amp or interface for the highest sound quality possible while recording. Just by handling these headphones for a moment you can see there aren’t a ton of moving parts which helps improve its already excellent durability.

I would recommend these headphones to anyone who wants professional sound quality and enjoys listening to clear, crisp music with thickness and substance for half the price of some of its major competitors.

Skull Candy – 2012 Roc Nation Aviator Headphones

With an impedance of 34Ohms and pumping 104Dbs these headphones provide superior quality to many other headphones in Skull Candy’s lineup. Personally Skull Candy has never steered me wrong. They always provide top notch headphones even in their less expensive models. These headphones however are a cut above and provide a noticeable difference in sound quality not to mention how comfortable these puppies are.

Here is a pair of headphones that deserves more credit than they receive. The Sennheiser brand is known for sound quality. These headphones provide exactly that and more. With speakers topping out at 110Db’s you will be sure to hear every note in that face melting guitar solo. I really like these headphones for the fact that when you put them on correctly, you can totally immerse yourself into anything you are listening to. The padding on them will remind you of a warm little earmuff sound cave. Have you ever been in a warm little earmuff sound cave? You’ve got to try it!

What is a headphone blog without Beats by the doctor himself? These pro beats headphones are top of the line. It doesn’t get much better than this folks. If are a musician, producer, or just care deeply about the music you listen to, these are the headphones to invest in. When you do snag these beats, you will be amongst professionals in the industry such as Will.I.Am and David Guetta. Don’t take it from me though. Ask the DR.

Audio Technica – Quietpoint 3 Level Active Noise Cancelling Headphones

Last but certainly not least are the Quiet Point Noise Cancelling headphones from Audio Technica. These headphones will simply greet your eardrums when placed upon your head. They will become friends with your eardrums. Shortly after listening to ANYTHING, your brain should have a new message in its inbox from your ears with, “Don’t ever take these things off!” written in the subject line and a court order attached insisting that you cease and desist all listening requiring removal of the Audio Technica headphones. All joking aside, these headphones are very awesome. Three noise cancelling modes allow you to adjust the headphones to what type of noise you are trying to block out simultaneously adjusting the quality of sound emitted from the headphones. If that’s not enough, how about 100Db’s with an impedance of 100Ohms?

Micro Center’s buyers were out in force this week at CES in Las Vegas. With all of the CES coverage, it’s hard not to get lost in all the hubbub. That’s why I have taken a few of the most interesting things we have seen so far to showcase what the future of technology looks like!

Nvidia Project Shield

The appearnace of the Nvidia Project Shield is downright awesome. It looks like an Xbox and a Gameboy had a baby. The Shield is a portable android gaming device with a screen that flips up from the controller. I’ve seen some FPS games played on this bad boy and it looks just as good as if you were playing on a console. Sure, there are some flaws to it. It’s a little clunky looking, but it’s a step in a new direction for gaming that can only mean good news for gamers. Project Shield is due for retail to the public during the 2nd quarter this year.

CubeX 3D Printer

The CubeX 3D Printer is one of the coolest things I have seen thus far and looks like the future of basically everything. The CubeX literally prints objects made of plastic. There have been other 3D printers before but the CubeX can print much larger objects. Pretty soon we will probably be printing our own household items. The CubeX 3D is for sale now and ships starting February.

Golden-i

The Golden-I is probably the coolest thing around if you are a firefighter, police officer, or paramedic. Basically it’s a mini hands free computer, headset, and video camera. Specs show that it will help these heroes stay alive as well as perform their jobs better.

What are the coolest products you have seen revealed at CES? What would you buy? SOUND OFF!

Recent revelations of fake Facebook and fake Twitter accounts have created a market for a free Twitter follower verification service called Fake Follower Check.

Created by a firm called StatusPeople, the service samples your Twitter account to scan a your followers. Then, it tells what percentage of your followers are good, inactive, or fake. For my account, it informed me that 64% of the accounts were good, 32% inactive, and 4% fake.

You can also get results for other Twitter accounts. Just plug in the name of the account, and the Fake Follower Check will show the percentages. For example, a spot check on Jan 2, 2013 of The NBC Today Show showed 19% of followers may be fake.

How does StatusPeople arrive at their results?

The company samples up to 500 follower accounts, depending on how popular your Twitter account is. It then determines which ones may be spam accounts based on certain criteria. Accounts that have few or no followers and few or no tweets are considered suspect. Spammers also tend to follow a huge number of other accounts.

In an August 14, 2012 review of Fake Follower Check, CNET asked “How accurate is the Fake Follower Check? It’s hard to determine without comparing its results against those of a comparable service. And currently there aren’t any comparable services.

StatusPeople reports that Twitter users with 10,000 or fewer followers will get a ‘very accurate insight’ into how many inactive and fake followers they have.”

StatusPeople offers a spam removal tool for $8.99 per month for up to 5 Twitter accounts, which helps you track down and remove any followers that you discover are fake.

Do you have a Twitter account? How many of your followers are fake?

As a public service to those who may have misplaced their Mayan calendars, we would like to remind you that according to the Mayans, the earth as we know it is scheduled for its final curtain call on Friday, December 21. For PC enthusiasts awaiting the apocalypse, now is the time for a quick trip to the nearest Micro Center for the dream PC upgrades you’ve been wanting. We’re talking now or never, folks, and there just isn’t time for shipping, especially when you consider Micro Center’s prices are lower, anyway.

We’ve assembled Micro Center’s dream PC upgrades to ensure the awesomeness of your rig regardless of whether or not the Mayan calendar proves correct. After all, with a beast of a rig in your corner, what are a few asteroids, pestilence outbreaks, and volcanos?

Processors: Intel Core i7 3970X 3.5GHz and AMD 6727 Opteron 2.1 GHz

After saying goodbye to your loved ones, the last thing you want to deal with is a slow processor. You might as well splurge and upgrade to the Intel Core i7 3970X 3.5GHz LGA 2011 for only $999.99 or an AMD 6727 Opteron 2.1 GHz for $509.99. Lag is not something you’re going to want while you’re making those final editing adjustments to the film you plan on jetting to space in hopes that somehow somewhere alien life will retrieve it and analyze the culture of the human race. So they cost a pretty penny? Whatever, it’s the end. Don’t let the mundane frugality of real life stop you from making your final days worthwhile. These processors are top of the line and will be able to handle just about anything you throw at it with ease. It’s comparable to recruiting Albert Einstein to write your science paper. Overkill or awesome possum?

Video Card: EVGA 04G-P4-2690-KR NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 4096MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

Okay, bottom line. You need a good video card. Many of us will be holed up in bunkers underground watching Netflix and playing video games while the earth is transformed into a desolate land of ruin. Do you really want your picture to become pixilated even the slightest? I know the answer. It’s a resounding NAY! Better grab the EVGA 04G-P4-2690-KR NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 4096MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card for $1,099.99. Money is no object….the world is ending.

Hard Drive: Western Digital 16TB Sentinel DX4000 Internal Server

Since the world is coming to a close, you are going to want to save everything on hard drives so the people of the future will be able to retrieve your data. You’re going to want the biggest and best. I recommend the 16TB Sentinel DX4000 internal server. Sure it’s a little big and you might not be able to fill it up in a thousand lifetimes, but heck, I’m sure the people of the future will be able to use it as a coffee table or something. Grab it now for only $1999.99. Guaranteed to protect and store all of your data from a thousand exploding suns.

Monitors: Dell Ultrasharp U3011 30” Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor

Your bunker may not be as comfortable as your regular computer room. You might end up sitting far away from the monitor. That’s why you need the biggest, brightest, cleanest looking one you can fine. Well that’s going to be the Dell Ultrasharp U3011 30” Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor for $1299.99, otherwise known as “BUBBA.” I’m not sure why. But since locusts will probably rain down from the sky and eat the planet bite by bite, you should probably just get it.
